By Train
Contact the S.N.C.F . for info from Annecy, Savoie, France. To the start of the viaferrataIf you come by train… from the station square, go under the subway…at the of the road you’ll see an info panel just opposite the Hermitage Hotel. It will give you the details on the via ferrata. Viaferrata climbingYou start right away with a 5-metre monkey bridge (very tight cables),followed by a series of traverses, slabs and steep ramps sloping up to the left. When you reach the mid-point, you can choose whether to exit to the path down. The Ermite overhang is very, very difficult! If you are the slightest bit tired, or if your arms cannot support your full weight for several minutes, this is not for you. Look at Cedric in the photos… But the ladder that allows you to avoid this stretch is really quite satisfying. Some advice: take a short safety line with a karabiner. If you’re too tired to go on for the moment, clip the karabiner to a bar and take a break. DescentWell… you have several options: If you’re rich, call a helicopter. If you’re heroic, use your paraglider. Otherwise, grab your courage with both hands – harness and sling lines attached. It’s so steep that there are cables down, too. The descent is yet another adventure. Lodging - Hotel - RestaurantGîtes-Belfer. Discover the 3 Epis Gites for five persons, in a farm, in the middle of Thones.
