CharacteristicsVery up-in-the-air, with a superb panorama covering the Lake of Geneva, the Valaisan Alps and Mt Blanc. A bit difficult for beginners and children. Some of the steps are rather high for people who aren’t tall For beginners and children, a second via ferrata was put in place in 2004. It is quite short and open all the year round. ViaFerrata.Org – tipsTake your mountain bike with you or rent one on the spot. Picnic essential. Once you’re at the top of the via ferrata, you can enjoy the beautiful countryside, while eating.
A special ViaFerrata.Org tip. The Kuklos restaurant has a neat trick – the illuminated Etoile de l’Ai. Telephone 024 494 1111 (every evening if you want) and you can change the colour of the spotlight. It’s really cool if you want to impress your friends.
Difficulty It is very difficult to find a free of charge parking place in Leysin! There are plenty of them in the Center of Sports, but this is 4 km away. Anyway, this is your special welcome when you arrive in this place. Back to the ViaFerrata.... Cotation | Strength | 2 | | Vertigo | 2 | | Type | High-Mountain: 1 | Technique

By TrainIf you take your bike with you, take the train. It will be a fabulous day! Change train in Aigle. Take a new train to Leysin. Schedule and price: CFF. StartTake the Berneuse cable-car to the top. There are only a few signposts, so trust us. When you come out of the cable-car top station, you’ll see the rotating Kuklos restaurant on your left. Look towards it. On its right, in the distance, you’ll see a mountain with a cliff face – La Tour d’Ai. That’s where you’ll find the via ferrata. Via FerrataAt the outset, you run into difficulties – awkward steps up. Once past them, you should be okay for the rest. A short traverse, up and down, brings you to the foot of the chimney. You have to get up it. (After that we hope you’ll have more respect for Santa Claus and leave some biscuits out for him at Xmas). At the top, a small overhang (very small!). And a lofty feeling of space all round you. You’re nearly there. One final, very photogenic, pitch and…the via summit is almost a classic. Once there you benefit from an unforgettably sensational panorama.
DescentThe way down is a bit animated – about 40 minutes. Be careful. From there, go get your mountain bike…it’s all over or nearly… Où dormirCamping Semiramis: Tel: ++41 24 494 39 39 Fax: ++41 24 494 21 21 Pics
