CharacteristicsIt’s more of an introduction than a real via ferrata. It is equipped with steps and gangways embedded in the rock wherever there are slippery slabs or gulleys or chimneys. You take the same route back down. Cable-car (not cheap!): CHF 20, one way; CHF 26, return.

Motorway Geneva – Lausanne – Vevey, exit at Aigle. From Chamonix or Italy, make for Martigny (Suisse), then motorway, direction Lausanne, exit at Aigle. Take the road over the Col desMosses to Château d’Oex (32 kms). Turn right on the Saanen/Gstaad road and go as far as Rougemont. Start of the viaferrata
Montée en téléphérique jusqu'au sommet de la Videmanette, départ de la via, ou à pied... c'est selon Take the telecabine to the top of the Videmanette. The via-ferrata starts there, at the top. You can also walk up to the top: 3 hours to reach the first step of the viaferrata Via FerrataThere are no major difficulties, just a short section requiring some strength and a little one that is a bit exposed. Excellent for beginners and anyone who likes walking. The via is divide in two. Going up, take the left-hand route, it’s more genuinely ferrata-like. The other way is used mainly for the descent – no difficulties at all. The summit offers a fine panorama. Lodging - Hotel - Restaurant Camping in Château-d'Oex, with pool. Access by train.
