Characteristics

Take a look at the Val-de-Travers from a different angle. Great lofty feelings for a first via ferrata.

This via is closed annually from Jan 1st to July 31st to let the peregrine falcon, the kestrel and the wall creeper nest without disturbance. The entry and exit cables are removed each season to prevent access to the cliff face.

This is a very suitable via for first-timers and for children aged ten and up; but the cable is not equipped with corkscrew fitments for ropes, so take some line loops to attach the children

ViaFerrata.Org – tips

The route is rather wet. You need good boots with Vibram-type soles. There is a TV mast on the top; go up to it to get a view of Lake Neuchâtel.

Quiz question

Why is this via called the Tichodrome?
 – It’s the scientific name of the wall creeper that nests in the cliff.

The “Fresh-Egg Restaurant”(also known as the Haut de la Côte Restaurant) parking area has parking places for via users – so use them.
The path to the start of the via is marked.
To avoid a fine, do not park on the unpaved space in the woods just before the via.

Viaferrata climbing

An attractive ledge on the Noiraigue heights, the bedrock hollowed out over time.
The guide, Michel Gentil, and his Association Via Ferrata et Escalade Sportive have made a very enjoyable via of it. The installations and information are particularly well cared for.

Just one overhanging pitch that might make the less daring hesitate a moment.

Magnificent view over Lake Neuchâtel from the summit.

Descent

Just follow the signs. Everything is clearly indicated,
